Cape Town is one of the most historically important cities in South Africa also known as the “mother city” and is the city in South Africa where European colonists first set their foot. The city was home to the world’s most famous political prisoner – Nelson Mandela who was on Robben Island in Table Bay prison for 27 years. The city bustling creative hub of District Six on the outskirts and becoming famous for the wrong reasons. During the period of 1970s, the Apartheid Government forcibly removed approximately 60 000 residents to other areas outskirts the “white” city limits, and demolished the houses that were made up the bustling neighborhood. Two blocks from District Six and CBD in 1990, Nelson Mandela made his first public speech since being released from prison on Robben Island held from the balcony of Cape Town’s City Hall.

The city is modern with high-rise office buildings and pedestrian malls, even though it is a major political and economic center. Cape Town's reputation still remains on the beautiful situation between the mountain and sea, cosmopolitan population, and the liberal outlook of many citizens. Cape Town exports the World famous wine from various wine farms and has become a popular tourist destination for its different culture and history.
