Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fly from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit, where your driver meets you for the short transfer to Karongwe River Lodge. Settle into your riverside suite and enjoy a light lunch on the deck. Your first afternoon game drive heads out at around 4pm, finishing with drinks as the sun sets over the bushveld.
A wake-up call before dawn brings coffee and rusks, then a morning drive while the predators are still active. Your ranger and tracker read spoor to find lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Brunch is followed by free time at the pool or in the hide. The afternoon drive ends with a candlelit dinner in the boma.
After an early game drive, join an armed guide for a walking safari focused on tracks, birds, insects and medicinal plants. Walking slows everything down and shows you the small details that vehicles drive past. The afternoon drive follows the river, where elephant and buffalo come down to drink in the late light.
Spend the last full day the way you like. Some guests choose an extra-long morning drive to find a species they have missed, while others book an optional spa treatment. Your final evening drive ends with sundowners on a koppie overlooking the reserve, followed by a farewell dinner.
Join a last morning game drive, then return for a full breakfast. After checking out, you transfer back to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg or on to Cape Town.
