Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fly from Maun to the airstrip serving Xigera in the Moremi Game Reserve, then transfer to the lodge. Raised suites overlook the floodplain and display contemporary African art. After settling in, join the activity best suited to water levels and conditions, with time to watch the light change over the reeds.
Explore by mokoro in the morning, gliding past water lilies and reed beds. In the afternoon, a game drive on nearby islands looks for lion, leopard and wild dog. Dinner pairs Botswana flavours with an excellent selection of South African wines.
Take a full-day boat excursion to deep lagoons where hippo and crocodile gather, with a picnic lunch on an island. Birders will look out for Pel's fishing owl, slaty egret and the African skimmer. Return in time for sundowners on the main deck.
A permitted guided walk explores the smaller details of island habitats when conditions and the lodge programme allow. Return for lunch and time to enjoy the art collection or a separately priced spa treatment. The afternoon activity follows local reserve rules; night driving is not assumed or promised.
Spend your last full day exploring by vehicle and boat. Guests can book a night in Xigera's treehouse sleep-out, a raised structure overlooking the floodplain. Falling asleep to hippo grunts and lion calls is something you will remember.
After a relaxed breakfast on the deck, take your scenic flight back to Maun for onward connections.
