Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fly from Maun to Chief's Island, home of Mombo Camp. Raised suites overlook a floodplain where lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino and wild dog all roam. Your private guide takes you on a first evening drive.
Spend two days exploring with your private guide, following current wildlife activity rather than a fixed checklist. Lion, leopard, antelope and birdlife offer different reasons to pause, and a quiet sighting can become the highlight of the stay. Rhino viewing and access to conservation operations are not promised.
Leave early to follow predator tracks and search for wild dog where recent reports suggest a chance of finding them. Return during the heat for lunch and time at the lodge, then explore again in late light. Activities remain subject to local rules and wildlife movements; specialist conservation access requires separate permission.
A short flight takes you to Jacana Camp in the Jao concession, a small island camp surrounded by water. Explore by mokoro in the afternoon, gliding through papyrus and water lilies. Sundowners are served on the water.
Spend the day on boat and mokoro excursions, looking for lechwe, elephant and the elusive sitatunga. Birders will enjoy sightings of kingfishers, herons and fish eagles. Dinner is a fireside feast on the island.
Take a scenic helicopter flight over the delta in the morning, seeing the network of channels and islands from above. The afternoon is free for a final mokoro outing. Your farewell dinner is set beside the water.
After breakfast, fly back to Maun for your onward connections.
